Man Possibly Linked to 3 Stabbings in Skid Row Shot by Police: LAPD
Police have responded to a mass stabbing in Los Angeles which resulted in the officers shooting one person.
At least three different victims were found stabbed in three different locations just before noon on Friday, near San Pedro Street south of 6th Street, according to ABC 7.
Officers responded to the area and shot one person. It was not officially confirmed that the stabbing suspect is the person who was shot, but a witness told Los Angeles Times that the suspect refused to surrender to police.
“They told him to drop the weapon,” Jay Hernandez said. “He didn’t drop it.”
The conditions of the suspect and victims have not been released at this time. One victim was seen alive, being transported to the hospital.
Witnesses that Los Angeles Times spoke to made it sound like the suspect is dead. “They positioned themselves and fired until the body stopped moving,” a witness said. It’s possible that there may be more victims, because the stabbings were spread over a wide area.
The area is known to have a high population of mentally ill homeless people, but it’s unknown if mental illness was a factor in this attack.
